This small abbey has retained all its authenticity despite alterations over the centuries. Recent work has restored its true splendor. Originally built in the 12th century, then remodeled by the Jesuits to make it a Jesuit (until 1789, the year of their banishment), it has retained all the character of the time of the founding Augustinian monks. It is made up of 2 wings. The north wing, St Georges Church, is still consecrated and is therefore not part of the property. On the garden level: a chapter room, a monks' room, a hospitium, the old monks' refectory, an old kitchen in a 3-level tower... The chapter room (chapter room) is magnificent. The former monks' refectory is grandiose (great height, magnificent period vault bases) and it is in a remarkable state of conservation. Upstairs, the former 6 teaching rooms of the east wing now consist of a kitchen and a succession of bedrooms/living rooms. This floor which is habitable for approximately 300 m² (a kitchen and a bathroom have been fitted out) offers great potential. The same goes for the attic above the east and south wings. 3 gardens surround the whole (for approx. 3000 m²). The vast majority of the work was carried out by the current owner. Calm and serenity for this property which would be suitable as a place of reception, concert exhibition... Note that from the beginning, pilgrims were welcomed in the hospital because this religious building has always been a renowned stopover on the Chemin de St Jacques (GR 36). Rare product for enthusiasts... Possibility of acquiring in addition a renovated stone house located in the extension of the south wing of the abbey, which we have exclusively (see reference 20720 on our site).
