Part-ownership of Cottage on La Bretesche Golf Course
• La Bretesche is a French Heritage site on the outskirts of Missillac in lower Brittany some 30 miles north of Nantes. The estate comprises a 14th C chateau, hotel with Michelin-starred restaurant, about 60 cottages, a championship 18 hole golf course, and a par 3 nine hole course. The estate is close La Baule, St. Nazaire, and many picturesque Breton villages, and the National Park of La Grande Briere is only 10 minutes away.
• Four of the cottages are under the auspices of the Strand Resorts Association a non-profit organisation with each cottage being managed and maintained by its 25 shareholders. This arrangement has been in place for some 30 years with the majority of shareholders being UK residents. A vacancy now exists.
• Each shareholder has two weeks occupancy at different times each year on a pre-planned rotation starting on Wednesdays.
• The annual fee includes 4 full golf club memberships for each fortnight. There are no green fees or any other overheads for shareholders.
• The share on offer is located close to the 6th tee with the clubhouse and first tee only 5 minutes away.
• The cottage is fully equipped as a holiday home with linen, towels, sheets, duvets, china and cutlery etc. to accommodate four adults and a child in comfort. It is centrally heated. There is a "cave" outside for storage of golf clubs, garden tools, and it also contains two power and two push Motor Caddys . There is ample car parking space.
• The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, electric cooker/hob and fridge/freezer.
• The main living room is equipped with TV, CD player, telephone and Wi-Fi.
• There are two twin bedrooms and a dressing room containing a single bed.
• There is an upstairs bathroom with bath, shower and toilet, and a downstairs shower /toilet.
• There is a rear patio and a small colourful garden with bird feeders.
• Shares currently change hands at around £5000.
• The annual fee is currently £700 and covers golf club membership for 4 people, and all cottage costs including local taxes, domain charges insurance, water, electricity, maintenance, telephone/broadband and fortnightly cleaning.
• The shareholders of each cottage hold an AGM to discuss the budget, elect office bearers (cottage chairman, treasurer, secretary, house committee), and discuss proposals for any renovations and maintenance etc.
