Restored stone chateau dating from 12th century with later additions, set in almost 8 hectares, with pool and fishing river.
This is a truly fascinating property, a stone chateau dating back to the 12th century; there remain in the tower a few narrow openings from which arrows would surely have been aimed. There were later additions and renovations, some around 1581 and others later still, despite various disputes, and interference from the Lord of the Manor and the Bishop, according to local history books. The current owners have brought the chateau up to the high standards of modern day expectations, whilst respecting its origins. The result is an unusual and welcoming home. The renovation work is almost complete; all the major jobs are done - new roof, electricity, and plumbing, all of which carry 10-year guarantees. The 6-bed tower section is complete and is used for holiday letting. It has its own oil central heating. The other section is where the owners live; final work, mostly cosmetic, is being completed. There are other rooms on the top floor offering still more potential, perhaps for an apartment. Wood-burning central heating is planned for here, though it is possible to run radiators off the existing boiler - it depends how the accommodation is to be used. It is all flexible; the two sections can be used as a large, family home - there are connecting doors - or the tower can remain as an individual unit, for guests or for the main accommodation. The property has immense character with many period features of which the most striking is the wide, stone staircase. Elsewhere, there are beautiful floors, some of wood and others with 'tomettes' or terracotta tiles; there are marble fireplaces, and some fine doors with original door furniture. Rooms are well proportioned. There is no space for a detailed description so please ask for our e-mail brochure.
The chateau stands in 7.85 hectares (almost 20 acres)of beautiful parkland, woodland and meadow. There is a water source, a stream, and a small river for fishing which meanders and curves around the land. There is a recently installed swimming pool 10m x 5m. Outbuildings comprise a pigeonnier, and a barn and stable. One side has a covered terrace with summer kitchen.
The property is in the countryside on the edge of a village in the Haute Garonne. Nearest shops are 2 kms and several towns are within easy reach at 10kms. - notably St. Gaudens and Aurignac. Toulouse international airport is 1 hour.
