French property near a golf course is highly sought after; when it’s within walking distance of, overlooking or actually on a golf course then it becomes an even better investment.
A different tactic is to buy a golf property that is centrally located for several courses – this not only lets you try out different courses yourself but enables you to market your property to fellow golfers as perfectly situated for golfing breaks.

Within easy reach of Paris are 14 golf courses which will give plenty of choice to the experienced golfer. Golf residences on new-build developments with swimming pools, saunas and jacuzzis all within commuting distance of the capital are great investment opportunities.
The Côte d’Azur boasts 8 golf courses, all within a 40 minute drive of each other; and there are a similar number of courses in Vaucluse, Bouches du Rhône and along the pine-fringed Atlantic coast between Biarritz and Bordaux. In northern France, there are several golf courses around Deauville and the D-day landings beaches in Calvados while Nord Pas de Calais boasts courses around Le Touquet and Hardelot and several others within a 30 minutes’ drive.
First choose the region of France you want to buy in, climate and/or accessibility will usually govern your decision. Then decide on the type of golf property to suit your needs; will it be a large new-build villa, a lock-up-and-leave apartment or a character property with grounds? Will you purchase outright or will you buy a leaseback property? With the latter, you lease your freehold property back to a holiday company in return for some personal usage and a guaranteed rental income (the lower the personal usage, the higher the annual return). Not only that, the French government will even refund you the 19.6% VAT on the purchase!
